Omni Community Services Purchases Homes With THDA Grants
Omni Community Services, a non-profit partner organization of Omni Visions created to provide housing for adults who have low-income and special needs, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) and its Tennessee Housing Trust Fund came together earlier this week to celebrate a milestone for Tennessee’s adults with special needs. With the assistance of two THDA grants, Omni Community Services will open 13 additional homes to provide affordable housing opportunities to low income Tennesseans with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Omni Community Services has received two grants from the Tennessee Housing Trust Fund in the last three years. Both are matching grants: Omni provides half of the purchase price through other sources of funding.
Once both grants are fully implemented, OCS will provide 23 homes with a capacity of serving 69 adults.
OCS homes are located throughout the state. Omni Community Services provides the housing and maintenance of the homes and ensures necessary support services are provided to the clients who reside in the homes.
“OCS has been a pleasure to work with and they are doing an outstanding job with finding and providing extremely nice, safe, and affordable homes for persons with special needs throughout the state,” said Toni Shaw, THDA community projects coordinator. “To date, with the assistance of the Housing Trust Fund Grant, OCS has acquired three homes in west Tennessee, two homes in middle Tennessee, and one home in east Tennessee.”
Since 1996, Omni Community Services has been a leader in providing adults with intellectual and development disabilities with an individual home that meets their needs and provides the community-based support they require. Omni Community Services is a 501(c) 3 organization, headquartered in Nashville.
