Omni Visions Selected for Two NCTSN Training Programs
Omni Visions selected for two prestigious training programs
February 1, 2012
Omni Visions, Inc. has been selected for two prestigious training programs by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN).
Omni Visions was one of only nine organizations chosen for “Using the NCTSN Core Curriculum to Enhance Trauma-Informed Assessment and Case Formulation Breakthrough Series Collaborative.” The Core Curriculum for Childhood Trauma is based on 12 core concepts that address the nature of a child’s traumatic experiences, the broader context for the trauma, the ‘aftermath’ of the trauma, and guiding principles for intervention and treatment. The curriculum uses in-depth case vignettes and a facilitator-led interactive learning approach to accelerate the development of clinical reasoning skills. Kathy Joyner, Program Director is senior leader for this project. She is joined by clinical staff from across the state.
Omni Visions’ residential treatment program was chosen for the “2011-2012 NCTSN Trauma Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents in Juvenile Justice and Probation Settings.” A partner agency, Varangon Academy in Memphis, TN, will partner with Omni Visions for this training program. The goal of this project is to support the adaptation, adoption and implementation of a youth trauma treatment within agencies that serve youth in juvenile justice and probation settings. Dr. Ann Kelley, Director of Residential Services, will lead the Omni Visions participation.
NCTSN is a program of the US Department of Health and Human Services and is led by the University of California Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric Institute and Duke University Medical Center. Its mission is “to raise the standard of care and improve access to services for traumatized children, their families and communities throughout the United States.”
The NCTSN works to develop and disseminate effective clinical interventions for child trauma, collect data for systematic study and help to educate professionals and the public about the effects of trauma on children.
Omni Visions, with headquarters in Nashville, is a multi-state organization providing services to children, youth and adults with disabilities. They currently provide services in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky and Georgia. For additional information or for office locations, go to www.OmniVisions.com.
