How do I apply?

In 2006, Omni Visions helped to finalize 67 adoptions in Tennessee, one of the highest results of private party providers assisting with adoptions. The adoption process may seem overwhelming, but Omni Visions makes the process easier. The Omni Vision staff works closely with a family from initial contact through post adoption. Once you have contacted Omni Visions about adopting the child, you must first go through an approval process.

What is involved in the approval process?
• Families must successfully complete 45 hours of training including group sessions, independent study, and homework assignments.
• Staff conducts home interviews involving everyone living in your home.
• Your home must have smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, telephone, adequate space, and be free of safety hazards.
• Families complete autobiographies.
• Medical evaluations, including TB tests, are completed to assure everyone in the family is in good health.
• Families sign agreements to use appropriate discipline techniques that do not include physical punishment.
• Income must be enough to cover the family's needs. Financial adoption assistance may be available to children who meet eligibility guidelines. Income verification is needed.
• Verifications such as driver's license, car insurance, homeowners/renters insurance, social security cards, current marriage certifications, and any previous divorce decrees, birth certificates for all family members must be provided.
• Staff conducts background checks including references, fingerprinting, sexual offender registry, DCS, police, and driving records.
• Training and home study approval is provided at no cost to families.
• Staff works with adoptive families to determine the type of child the adoptive family can best parent.

Once approved, resource coordinators begin the process of matching children to families available for placement. We are responsible for preparing the child and family for adoption and the provision of placement and post-adoption support services.
